Muscat, March **, 2020: Oman Tourism College (OTC) signed a cooperation agreement with Oman Research Repository ‘Shuaa’, which is supervised by a joint committee from The Research Council (TRC) and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). The agreement was signed by Dr Abdulkarim Sultan Al Mughairi, Dean of OTC and Dr. Nabhan bin Harith Al Harrasi, Chairman of the Committee.
According to the agreement, OTC will share its intellectual products such as scientific and academic studies, research projects, various books, reports and audio-visual materials with the aim of making them permanently available to students, researchers and interested individuals from inside and outside the Sultanate through the digital platform Oman Research Repository ‘Shuaa’.
On this occasion, Dr Abdulkarim Al Mughairi said, “We are delighted to join the list of academic and research institutions participating in this pioneering national project, which will constitute a quality and valuable addition to providing data and research for interested individuals and institutions. It is a very important step in the field of supporting scientific research efforts by providing previous studies and statistics at the national level. I’m confident that the scientific output of OTC will form a real added value for the beneficiaries of this project.”
From his side, Dr. Nabhan Al Harrasi said, “Shuaa aims to collect researches, studies, articles, statistics and other scientific materials that have been conducted on the Sultanate with the aim of indexing and classifying them using specialised systems in order to made them digitally available to researchers and interested individuals. The joint committee, supervising the project, has already completed many foundational steps such as drafting general frameworks, policies, vision and key objectives. Today, these efforts are joined by OTC, which has a long record in the field of academic and research publishing, specifically in the field of audio and visual materials. We are delighted to sign this agreement that will make this entire knowledge repository available to the beneficiaries of the Shuaa project.”
