Oman Tourism College recently hosted the Italian Cuisine Week which is organized by the Italian embassy as part of their ongoing efforts to celebrate the Italian food and culture around the world. The event comes in line with the ongoing progressive initiatives OTC brings to expand its students’ repertoire with ample industry exposure. The occasion was held at the college’s premises with educative seminars and live cooking demonstrations from two of Italy’s most famous chefs - Massimo Biagiali and Luca Santini.
Commenting on the workshop, Dr. Abdulkarim Al Mughairi - Dean, OTC, said, “At the college, we always endeavor to create an environment of practical learning through a combination of industry involvement and international exposure. Our culinary workshops, therefore, not only showcase various food cultures but they also expand students’ horizons by giving them a taste of the myriad opportunities available in the tourism and hospitality sector.”
Massimo Biagiali, Italy’s well-known sommelier-led audiences through an informative discourse on the Marche region and its culinary influences, how the landscape affected production and the industry and products that the region is famous for – cheese, beef, cereals, and truffles.
Luca Santini who is also President of the Association of Chefs in the Marche region showcased the best of Italian cuisine in his gourmet rendition of Mezze maniche and Mancini pasta with Mussels of Portonovo.
