Muscat, November 1, 2021: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and to promote awareness of the importance of blood donation, Oman Tourism College (OTC), represented by the CSR Committee and Marketing Club, organised a blood donation campaign in cooperation with the Central Blood Bank in Bausher. The event was held on Sunday, October 31, from 9:00am to 2:00pm and saw over 120 donors from the OTC community and the public, who participated to support this noble cause.

Commenting on the importance of organising such events, Qais Zahir Al Hosni, Chairman and Acting Dean of OTC, said, “Conducting a blood donation campaign is part of the responsibility of any institution towards society since it an initiative to save someone’s life. One of the objectives of this campaign is to instill a culture of volunteering and the spirit of giving back to the community among the younger generation. In addition, we seek to raise awareness of the urgent need for all blood types by various health care institutions.”

The initiative was organised and managed by the Marketing Club of OTC. It provided Tourism Marketing students with first-hand experience in communicating with external stakeholders, putting into practice what was taught as part of their respective courses.

Yumna Nabeel Al Ruwaidhi, a member of the Marketing club said, “Based on the principles and values of the college in promoting cooperation and teamwork, we decided to organise this community initiative. Through this, we hope to educate the community about the importance of donating blood. We are delighted to know that the drive was well-received by the participants and would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event.”
