Muscat, April **, 2021: Oman Tourism College (OTC) recently celebrated the season of giving, commemorating the blessed month of Ramadan and its associated values of kindness and generosity, by organising the ‘Iftar Sayim’ programme. This is the third consecutive year that OTC has conducted the initiative, aimed at supporting those in need through the distribution of a total of 100 healthy iftar meals daily, in cooperation with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn and A’Saffa Foods.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Mohamed Shamis Al Rawahi, Head of the Labour Union at OTC, said, “At OTC, we believe in the importance of extending support to those in need within the committee through CSR efforts. This is why we have always been keen, during the month of Ramadan, to organise ‘Iftar Sayim’ for the low-income families and labour workers. This way we can bring about little joys since such initiatives emphasise the values of togetherness, care and compassion as well as reinforcing bonds of love and social solidarity. We also hope it will enable the spread of these virtues among society. The programme included the preparation and distribution of 100 healthy meals daily, throughout Ramadan to the Wilayat of Seeb. The meals were cooked by chefs from the college in our kitchens, with the support of our partners, Madayn and A’Saffa Foods.”
Bader Al-Shidi, Marketing Director at A’Saffa Foods, said, “A’Saffa Foods contributed by provided free chicken meat products for ‘Iftar Sayim’, launched by OTC. We stand together with the underprivileged members of society, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, through the provision of healthy meals for them. We believe that this is part of larger efforts on a national level and alleviates the conditions of these families, furthering the values of kindness and care symbolised by the holy month of Ramadan.”
Commenting on their role, a representative of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn, said, “We are delighted to be a part of this virtuous ‘Iftar Sayim’ programme and offer a helping hand to those in need. We understand that the current situation brought about by the onset of the pandemic has been challenging for these families and have therefore funded the purchase of foodstuff that was necessary to prepare the daily Iftar meals.”
