Muscat, March **, 2021: Oman Tourism College (OTC) organised a meeting for tourism and hospitality representatives, with the aim to introduce them to the vocational, professional and short courses offered by the college. In addition, the meeting sought to strengthen collaborations towards the support of employment opportunities for Omani graduates of these courses and enable them to kick-start their career in one of the sector’s institutions. The meeting was also conducted to listen and benefit from the feedback of officials in these institutions concerning the current courses and means of improvement. This way, the college looks to meet market requirements, in line with the Sultanate’s approach towards enhancing Omanisation in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Commenting on the training courses offered by the college, Shafia Al Malki, Assistant Director of Training & Professional Development Unit at OTC said, “Oman Tourism College graduates who have been enrolled in various training courses are widely accepted and welcomed by sector institutions for their competence, passion, and spirit of initiative and learning. The college provides a supportive environment for growth and development through the provision of leading educational facilities, including classrooms equipped with the latest modern tools and training halls that simulate the environment of hotels and various tourist facilities. By doing so, we can prepare students in the respective training courses with optimal preparation, and ensure that they are ready to join the labour market upon graduation. The high-quality of these courses, which are offered by the college, is in cooperation with renowned institutions in the field of tourism and hospitality, such as Highfield, Lobster Ink, American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) and the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA). In this context, I am pleased to extend my thanks and appreciation to all our partners for their continuous support and cooperation, as we collectively aim to enhance progress and growth within the tourism sector.”

The meeting was attended by Human Resources Managers and training supervisors from Omran Group, W Hotel, Grand Hyatt Muscat, IHG, Novotel, IBIS, Wyndham Garden, Chedi Muscat, Royal Tulip, Kempinski, Anantara and Dusit Jebel Akhdar. Supreme Committee directives were taken into consideration through the application of all precautionary and safety measures. Moreover, over the course of the meeting, the success story of Garah Al Harrasi, a graduate of one of the courses of TPDU, who is currently working at W Hotel as a Commis Chef was also presented.
